Questioned on the issue by Walloon MP Vincent Campront (Socialist Party) in Parliament, the Minister for Road Safety, François Desquesnes (Les Engagés), clarified that the effective sending of reminders, whether paper or digital, depends on the data provided by the Crossroads Bank for Vehicles. However, the Court of Auditors has identified shortcomings in the quality and updating of this data.
Technical centers now have direct access to this information to manage summons themselves, but gaps persist. “About 10% of vehicles that are to be summoned or recalled are currently missing from the lists received from the FPS Mobility,” laments François Desquesnes, reported by Sudinfo.
On July 7, the Walloon minister challenged his federal counterpart, Jean-Luc Crucke, during an interministerial meeting. He asked the SPW to report the problems related to the missing summons to the FPS Mobility.
For its part, the FPS Mobility is planning a working group in early 2026 to revise the legislation on the Crossroads Bank for Vehicles. The objective: to improve access to data while complying with the GDPR, as technical centers do not themselves have information on registrations and deregistrations.
