OSRAM has conducted its first OSRAM Lighting Academy training sessions of 2026 at Nottingham College. Working alongside Mike Smallbone of Aftermarket Business Solutions, the company delivered two sessions to nearly 70 motor vehicle engineering students to support their entry into the automotive aftermarket.
The curriculum covered various bulb technologies, general aftermarket structures, and the commercial opportunities associated with upselling and fitting lighting components. A key focus was placed on the safety implications of using reputable parts. Marketing Director Henry Bisson stated:
“During all of our training days, we want to stress the importance of fitting premium quality and reputable components, as fitting a poor quality bulb may dazzle other drivers, fail prematurely and in some cases, be hazardous in the engine bay and cause damage to the headlight unit, so we want them to learn this information at the start of their career, and hopefully carry it through.”
The training follows a series of similar events held in 2025 at colleges in Warrington, Leicester, and Swindon. To ensure inclusivity, the Nottingham sessions were recorded for students unable to attend due to work commitments.
The day concluded with a technical quiz, allowing students to engage with the material and win branded merchandise. Professionals and students seeking further technical data can access the full product range via the OSRAM automotive portal.
