Valeo Service UK has introduced its new 48V 2-Speed eAxle with Smart Dog-Clutch, designed to provide electric rear-wheel drive capability for mass-market four-wheel-drive hybrid vehicles.
Selected by Dacia for its Hybrid-G 150 powertrain, the system will feature on the Dacia Duster, Bigster, and upcoming Striker models. The technology replaces traditional mechanical four-wheel-drive components with a 48V electric rear-axle assembly.
Developed with Renault Group, the unit weighs 41 kg and produces a peak output of 31 hp. Its two-speed architecture delivers up to 1,800 Nm of rear wheel torque at lower speeds for off-road use, before shifting to a longer ratio for cruising efficiency at speeds up to 140 km/h. Software-synchronised engagement via the Smart Dog-Clutch enables urban driving up to 60 per cent in electric mode.
Andy Swann, Managing Director at Valeo Service UK, said:
“Innovations like the 48V 2-Speed eAxle highlight how vehicle manufacturers are scaling hybrid technology for high-volume, mass-market platforms,” said Andy Swann, Managing Director at Valeo Service UK. “For our motor factor and workshop partners across the UK, this offers a valuable look at the vehicles that will define independent repair over the next decade.”
Valeo Service UK confirmed it will support independent distributors and workshops with original equipment parts, technical data, and training as these vehicles enter the aftermarket.
