febi has introduced a Gear Shift Gate / Parking Brake Actuation Repair Kit (199055) for Jaguar XE (X760), Land Rover Discovery Sport (L550), and Range Rover Evoque (L551) and Sport (L494) models. The kit addresses a common fault where the vehicle becomes stuck in the park position.
Technical Cause
The failure is caused by an internal break in the gear shift release trigger button mechanism. This prevents the transmission control switch from communicating with the transmission control module (TCM) and other vehicle systems to allow gear selection.
Repair Procedure
The febi kit contains all components required to resolve the issue. Technicians are advised to follow these specific steps:
- Safety: Wear the electro-static discharge (ESD) gloves supplied in the kit and ensure the ignition is switched off.
- Removal: Use the provided tool to release the adhesive and remove the gear shift decal.
- Disassembly: Push the release trigger button through the lever and unclip the wiring harness.
- Installation: Fit the new switch assembly and bezel, securing them with the provided screw.
- Validation: Verify operation through all positions—Drive, Neutral, Reverse, and Sport. Finally, install the new decal.
