After working as a mechanic at home in Castanet-Tolosan, Yves Okou has just moved to Villefranche-de-Lauragais where he has opened a new workshop.
Yves Okou has been working as a home mechanic since May 2021, when he decided to launch his company called Okou Dépann .
The 34-year-old professional travels to his customers’ homes to maintain or repair their vehicles . “I am often called upon for practical reasons. For example, I can visit people who are teleworking. They don’t need to go to a garage or get someone to take them or pick them up. Some may also have their vehicle immobilized at home because it won’t start,” he explains.
Until now, Yves only went to his customers’ homes with many tools in his vehicle, which serves as a mobile workshop. But when he moved to Villefranche-de-Lauragais, he chose to take premises in the Borde Blanche business park, which he equipped with a lifting bridge and other tools, allowing him to also take charge of cars on-site and store parts there.
“This allows me to look after the vehicles of people who do not have a suitable outdoor space at home , because I am not allowed, for example, to do mechanics on public roads. By only doing work from home, I was also limited in the type of work I can do. It is complicated, for example, to change a large engine at home. Now, I can do maintenance at home and if the customer one day has a bigger problem, I can take care of the vehicle at my premises, which was not possible until now,” explains Yves.
“But 75% of my business remains maintenance or repairs at the customer’s premises. There is a real demand because there is no one who offers it in this area of Lauragais. You have to go to the outskirts of Toulouse or to Revel to find a mechanic at home,” he explains, emphasizing that he travels free of charge in the Lauragais sector.
