The Verona traffic police conducted extraordinary checks over the holiday weekend of November 1.
Overall, nine licenses were withdrawn for driving under the influence of alcohol, seven drivers were fined for driving while using a cell phone, seven fines were issued for failure to wear a seat belt, and 17 vehicles were found without an MOT and six other vehicles were found to be driving without insurance coverage.
In total, 14 driving licenses and 10 vehicle registration documents were withdrawn, 279 points were deducted and 91 violations were ascertained.
During the checks, a 19-year-old Moroccan citizen was arrested for drug dealing , as he was found in possession of a block of cocaine weighing one kilo: the driver, checked along the A4, fled in his car at the patrol’s stop. After a brief chase, the young man then fled on foot, reached shortly after by State Police officers, along a construction site near the highway.
