MANN-FILTER Introduces Recycled Carbon Cabin Filters Ahead of Automechanika

MANN-FILTER will showcase its updated FreciousPlus cabin air filter range featuring recycled activated carbon at Automechanika Frankfurt in Hall 3.0, Stand D55.

The filtration specialist is incorporating a recycling process that recovers activated carbon from internal filter media production residues. Starting September 2026, the series production will launch across more than 100 products, covering approximately 4,800 vehicle applications across Europe.

Marian Anton, Business Development Manager at MANN+HUMMEL, said:

“In this process, we are consistently building on our ongoing progress towards sustainability, such as the use of natural lignin, and are laying a further foundation to establish a circular economy,”

Production details and environmental metrics include:

  • Raw material reduction: Using 30 tonnes of recycled activated carbon annually saves approximately 240 tonnes of coconut shells
  • Carbon footprint: Process reduces the CO2 footprint of the activated carbon by approximately 17% compared to new material
  • Workshop logistics: Product part numbers, stocking, and pricing remain unchanged for distributors and garages

Anton noted:

“For the first time, our solution makes it possible to use recycled activated carbon in demanding filtration applications without compromising on performance, quality and lifetime. This opens up new uses for recycled raw materials and sets new standards in the industry.”

He added:

“it is important to us that more sustainable solutions really work in everyday workshop operations, bringing about tangible benefits. Thanks to the introduction to series products, there is no need to store additional parts and logistics processes also remain unchanged. At the same time, prices remain stable – which facilitates acceptance in a highly competitive market.”

MANN+HUMMEL has submitted a patent application for the technology. Product details are available at https://www.mann-filter.com.
