Valeo has expanded its freewheel pulley range to 252 active part numbers, introducing 32 new references to increase vehicle coverage across the European market.
The range encompasses both Overrunning Alternator Pulleys (OAP) and Overrunning Alternator Decouplers (OAD). OAP units operate as a one-way clutch to decouple the alternator rotor during engine deceleration, while OAD units utilise an internal torsion spring to absorb engine vibrations.
Key vehicle applications for the new references include the Volkswagen Polo V, Renault Clio IV, and Fiat 500. Valeo has confirmed that 231 references are currently stocked in European warehouses, with the full range catalogued on TecDoc alongside more than 600 original equipment and independent aftermarket cross-references.
Common failure symptoms identified for technicians to monitor include:
- Belts and Tensioners: Alternator belt whistling or accelerated tensioner wear caused by a seized pulley.
- Electrical and Auxiliary Systems: Battery charging loop disruptions or collateral damage to components including air conditioning compressors.
