Valeo is expanding its range of camshafts, crankshafts, and engine sensors to better support independent garages working on hybrid vehicles.
This move comes as hybrid sales surge, with HEVs and PHEVs accounting for over 22% of new car sales in the UK during October 2024.
“Many PHEVs and HEVs are already being serviced in the aftermarket and more are coming onto the roads all the time,” said Andy Swann, Managing Director at Valeo Service UK. “Our range expansion means garages can capitalise on this popular segment, safe in the knowledge that Valeo has a growing range ready to cater for them.”
Valeo has significantly increased its camshaft and crankshaft offerings. Since 2023, they have added 180 new references, with an additional 85 introduced this year. This brings their total to 570 references, covering popular hybrid models like the Hyundai Kona Hybrid 48V and the Citroën C5X plug-in hybrid.
The company has also doubled its exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor range since May, adding 145 references. This allows garages to service mild hybrids like the Audi Q5 Sportback and Volvo XC60 II.
Similarly, Valeo’s mass airflow meter (MAF) sensor range has nearly doubled, expanding by 150 references in June. This extended range covers vehicles like the Volvo XC60 II T8 plug-in hybrid and Peugeot 408 II Hybrid 225.
“By upping our engine sensor references for hybrids,” said Andy, “Valeo is actively supporting independent garages. Through our overall sensor development strategy, Valeo has been addressing and consolidating the air, fuel, combustion, and exhaust segments, with the end goal being to meet every possible need of the aftermarket.”
Valeo’s commitment to supporting the hybrid market positions independent garages to grow in this rapidly expanding segment.
