Clarios has announced the relaunch of its VARTA Powersports segment, following similar updates to its passenger and commercial vehicle ranges. The overhaul introduces the next generation of energy storage solutions for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, jet-skis, and snowmobiles.
To comply with EU Regulation 2019/1148, which prohibits the sale of separate acid packs to end-users, VARTA has consolidated its AGM Active, AGM High Performance, and Gel ranges into the new AGM Active line. These batteries are factory-activated, leak-proof, and ready for immediate use.
The AGM Active range consists of 29 models, including 17 new references. These units are engineered to support modern electrical loads such as ABS, traction control, and navigation systems. They offer a cycle life up to three times longer than conventional batteries and can be installed at angles of up to 90 degrees. Theres Gosztonyi, Vice President Independent Aftermarket EMEA at Clarios, stated:

The relaunch introduces a “Navigation by Technology” system using colour-coding to simplify inventory management:
- Gold: Represents AGM and AGM Active premium solutions.
- Blue: Identifies SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition) for stable performance.
