When a mechanic tries to hide something… and gets caught

A customer dropped off his vehicle at Curry Subaru’s shop in Cortlandt Manor (a hamlet in New York State) for a simple service. Nothing unusual . Except that a dashcam will reveal a scene that is as absurd as it is disturbing.

In the footage, a mechanic can be seen moving the car into the garage, performing a few abrupt manoeuvres, before tackling a completely different problem: the vehicle’s surveillance camera. First, the man tries to disconnect it from the main unit. Failed, it’s still running. For his second attempt, the mechanic removes the camera’s USB access. Failed again.

Convinced that he has erased all traces of his act, the technician calmly returns to work. Unfortunately, he is unaware of a crucial detail: a second camera, installed on the dashboard and connected to the OBD port, has filmed the entire scene. This camera captures everything, sound and image. We can even hear the mechanic muttering in frustration as he leaves the vehicle.

The video, posted on YouTube by the NewYorkDashCam channel, quickly gained attention. It begs the burning question: Why would this employee try to disable a camera?
