FORVIA HELLA debuts innovative rear wing lighting system

FORVIA HELLA has launched its first Rear Wing Lighting system, a combined rear lamp and spoiler unit, now in production for the new LYNK & CO 02 (Z20 in China) electric SUV.

This marks a significant step in automotive lighting design, integrating both functional lighting and aerodynamic enhancement into a single component. The system is produced locally in China.

Yves Andres, responsible for FORVIA HELLA’s global lighting business, highlighted the innovation in both technology and design language. He also emphasised the importance of this launch within the Chinese market, showcasing the demand for unique lighting solutions. FORVIA HELLA is addressing this demand with its local production strategy.

The Rear Wing Lighting is a highly integrated design, stretching nearly 2.4 metres across the vehicle’s rear and extending to the sides. While maintaining LYNK & CO’s distinctive lighting style, it incorporates all legally required lighting functions, including indicators, brake lights, reverse lights, and welcome lighting. Remarkably, this is achieved within a slim profile of less than 10 centimetres.

Beyond aesthetics, the integrated spoiler enhances the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance, improving stability and fuel efficiency (or in this case, energy efficiency for an EV). The compact design cleverly houses not only the lighting optics but also the necessary electronics and structural components for durability.
