MANN+HUMMEL has introduced in-house developed nanofibre air filters under its MANN-FILTER brand to improve filtration efficiency and service life in commercial vehicles.
The technology is utilised in applications including the MANN-FILTER C 50 004/1 for the Mercedes-Benz Actros II, the C 26 024 Kit for the DAF XF 105 and XF 106, and the C 29 046 for DAF XG-generation trucks.
The filter media consist of a cellulose base coated with polymer fibres measuring between 0.15 and 0.13 micrometres in diameter. This structure increases the surface area for particle capture, raising separation efficiency to 99.98 per cent, compared to approximately 40 per cent for the base material alone. By capturing contaminants on the surface, the design prevents dust from entering the base medium and clogging pores, which maintains low flow resistance and extends service intervals.

The flame-retardant and water-stable media are designed to withstand challenging operating environments, such as construction sites, to reduce the risk of engine wear and vehicle downtime.
